“Look Mercifully upon Our Great Weakness”: The Collect for the Third Sunday after the Epiphany

I’m a little late getting to this this week, but here is the Collect for the Third Sunday after the Epiphany from the Order of Worship for the Reformed Church in the United States. It is short, as collects are; but it is eloquent, and powerful.

The Third Sunday after the Epiphany

THE COLLECT

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, look mercifully, we beseech Thee, upon our great weakness; and in the midst of the manifold trials and dangers which beset us on all sides, stretch forth the right hand of thy majesty for our protection and help; through Jesus Christ, our Savior, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
