Veni, veni (2)

This Friday, verse 2. Once again, text followed by literal translation and the familiar hymn version. (Text and poetic translation here.)

veni, O Sapientia,
quae hic disponis omnia,
veni, viam prudentiae
ut doceas et gloriae.
gaude, gaude; Emmanuel nascetur pro te Israel.

Come, o Wisdom,
[you] who order all things here,
come, so that you may teach
the way of wisdom and of glory.
Rejoice, rejoice; Emmanuel shall be born for you, Israel.

O come, Thou Wisdom, from on high,
and order all things far and nigh;
to us the path of knowledge show,
and teach us in her ways to go.
Rejoice! Rejoice! O Israel,
to thee shall come Emmanuel!
